Successfully Organized National Consultative Workshop for Civil Society Index for 2018

On 26 June 2018, the National Consultative Workshop for Civil Society Index for 2018 was held in TCC Grand Plaza. The event was organized by CRPRC Studiorum, as part of the action-research project Civil Society Index – analysis and support for civil society development, conducted in the period 1st April 2016 – 30th June 2018.
The main aim of the project is to promote and strengthen the civil society through assessment and development of policy recommendations and measures for civil society development. The implementation of the Civil Society Index actively involves and distributes its findings to a wide array of stakeholders, including groups of interest, the Government, the donor and academic community and the general public.

The workshop was officially opened by the project coordinator Stefan Chichevaliev. The National Deputy Team Leader of the Civica Mobilitas Programme, Emina Nuredinovska from Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, also addressed the attendees, pointing out the possibility for creating a sustainable civil society with the support of the Civica Mobilitas Programme, coordinated by the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation, the Danish consultancy company NIRAS and the Swedish consultancy company SIPU.

The national workshop, as a part of the consultative process of the Civil Society Index, was a good opportunity for presentation of the methodology, identifying the needs, challenges and recommendations for development and promotion of civil society, as well as for exchange of experiences and good practices of effective realization of the civil society’s role.

The aims of the National Consultative Workshop for the Civil Society Index included: presentation of good practices arising from the work of civil society organizations and discussion regarding the findings, needs and challenges of the civil society on regional level.
The workshop noted attendance by a wide array of stakeholders and civil society organizations from 7 planning regions, which engaged in discussion regarding the needs and challenges of the civil society on regional level, and suggested recommendations for the development of the civil society on national and local level.

In addition, three good practices, which achieved societal changes through citizen’s engagement, were presented. Presenters at the workshop included: Diogen Hadji-Kostov Milevski from the Centre for European Development and Integration – Bitola, Davor Karakashev from Lions Club Phoenix – Skopje and Arijanit Xhaferi from Eco-Guerilla – Tetovo.

The workshop was closed with presentation of the conclusions and recommendations for development of civil society on national and local level.
