Active citizenship conference

The Center for Regional Policy Research and Cooperation – CRPRC Studiorum within the frameworks of the Pilot Training on Active Citizen Participation held the Conference for Active Citizenship at the EU Info Center, Mission of European Union.

CRPRC Studiorum with the support of the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) implemented a pilot training on active citizenship in our country. The pilot training was held in the municipalities of Veles and Probistip. Representatives of the units of local self-government and representatives of local civic organizations participated in the pilot training.

At the conference, speeches were held by Mr. Patrick Paquet, First Secretary, Chief of Political and Information Sector with the Mission of European Union, Mrs. Neda Milevska – Kostova, Executive director of CRPRC Studiorum and Ms. Camille Gangloff, Program Coordinator with ALDA, Strasbourg.

Mayors from several municipalities included in the pilot training, as well as municipalities dedicated to promotion of citizen participation in our country also participated the conference.

The aim of this event was to develop a public debate for inclusion of citizens in decision making processes on a local level, as well as for progress in the process of decentralization.

CRPRC Studiorum was awarded ALDA certificate for contribution in the field of active citizenship for the period 2008 – 2009.
