Active citizen participation in Macedonia

On the 7th of July, 2009 (Tuesday), in Holiday Inn, Skopje, there was organized a round table for discussion on the topic “Active citizen participation in Macedonia: Can the new technologies initiate active citizen participation?”

The event was organized by the Foundation for Sustainable ICT solutions Metamorphosis in cooperation with the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) within the frames of the project for decentralized cooperation between the Lower Normandy region in France and the Republic of Macedonia, with the assistance from Republic of France.
The event was opened by Mr. Laurent Beauvais, the president of the Regional Council of Lower Normandy and Ms. Antonella Valmorbida, director of ALDA. During the first section named “What is active citizen participation?” Ivana Tomovska, researcher in CRPRC Studiorum took part as a presenter with the theme “Active citizen participation, local government and civil society”, i.e. the local government as promoter of active citizen participation. In addition there was a promotion of the Pilot training for active citizen participation, that CRPRC Studiorum was conducting with financial support from ALDA.
