Seminar “The Independent Policy Research and the Reform of Policy Process in the Western Balkans – What Role for Think Tanks?” – European Fund for the Balkans, Belgrade, Serbia, 20-21 October 2010

Within the 2010Fellowship Programme for Policy Researchers from the Western Balkans Region, Biljana Kotevska, Researcher at CRPRC Studiorumtook part in the European Fund for the Balkans seminar “The Independent Policy Research and the Reform of Policy Process in the Western Balkans – What Role for Think Tanks?”. Many representatives from think-tanks from the Western Balkans gathered to discuss the role of think-tanks in independent policy research and in the reform of policy process in the Western Balkans.
Rosa Balfour (European Policy Centre, Brussels), Sonja Stojanovic (Belgrade Centre for Security Policy, Belgrade), Sanel Huskic (ACIPS, Sarajevo), Gledis Gjipali (European Movement in Albania, Tirana).Goran Buldioski (Think Tank Fund, Open Society Institute from Hungary), Sebastien Leclef (CASE, Warsaw), Milan Sagat (Via Iuris, Bratislava), Ctibor Kostal (Slovak Governance Institute, Bratislava), Sandor Koles (International Centre for Democratic Transition, Budapest), Vladimir Todoric (New Policy Center, Belgrade), Aaron Presnall (Jefferson Institute, Belgrade), and Engjellushe Morina (Kosovo Stability Initiative, Prishtine) were among the speakers, moderators and panelists of the Seminar.
This fellowship programme is a joint undertaking of the European Fund for the Balkans and the Think Tank Fund of the Open Society Institute based in Budapest. The programme aims to contribute to further capacity building and professional development of policy researchers from the region of Western Balkans allowing them to build networks across Europe through paid visits to other policy research institutions and think-tanks in the EU and other countries of the Western Balkans.
The Seminar gathered about fifteen representatives from think-tanks from the Western Balkans, and over ten others from Europe.
